Here at Such A Voice we bring together some pretty incredible professionals from all different parts of the world to provide our students with a top voice-over education. Our staff members have such a wide variety of backgrounds and unique personalities. From working VO actors starring in movies, videogames and national TV commercial campaigns, to producers spending their days working on voice-over demos as well as broadcast voice-over work, to copywriters, casting directors and many other industry skills in between! We genuinely love bringing our expertise and our experiences together to create the best programs for our students.
For this week’s spotlight in the series, we’d like to introduce you to Such A Voice’s CAO and two time runner up of the Alex Goss lookalike contest, Alex Goss.
Who is Alex Goss?Me? Husband, dad, Vermonter, nerd, foodie, music lover, environmentalist, and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Such A Voice.How many kids do you have?Two! Fraternal twin teenagers. Oh, and a cat.What’s something most people don’t know about you?I write poetry. Mostly on my phone, or on random scraps of paper that I leave around in public.Can you share some of the behind the scenes Such A Voice stuff that you do?I get to work with Ben, Jeff, and Heather to keep the machine moving in the back end so that our wonderful coaches, producers, and copywriters, and engineers can help students achieve their voice-over goals. I also have the opportunity of working with our customer service, support, and admin teams so that everyone on our team, and in our client community, has an excellent experience with us.What teacher made the biggest impact on you, and why?Of our team? Probably Joleene. She’s just lovely. If you mean of my own educational experiences, then, my college advisor, Laird, who encouraged me to open my perspective to such a wide lens that I’m able to learn and grow from every experience that I receive both personally and professionally.Since we’re a virtual company, with staff all over the world, which Such A Voice staff have you actually met in person?The local crew here in VT, our fantastic group of traveling introductory and master class instructors, and the always wonderful Heather Costa.What is a skill you’d like to learn and why?I think I’d like to expand my computer programming skills in preparation for this great big future we have ahead of us, but also, I’d like to acquire a green thumb.Is there a charity that’s really important to you?Refugee support and resettlement programs, environmental conservation and protection groups, and cancer research and survivor support organizations.Who is your favorite VO talent? Where have we heard him/her?Heather Costa. Duh. I also love Jason Segel as Vector in Despicable Me.From a ‘running a business’ standpoint, what’s one piece of advice you would like to share?Be adaptable and open to change. There are far too many variables, and opportunities for that matter, to believe that your business should stick to one course of action.
