Here at Such A Voice, we bring together some pretty incredible professionals from all different parts of the world to provide our students with a top voice-over education. Our staff members have such a wide variety of backgrounds and unique personalities. From working VO actors starring in movies, video games, and national TV commercial campaigns, to producers spending their days working on voice-over demos as well as broadcast voice-over work, to copywriters, casting directors and many other industry skills in between! We genuinely love bringing our expertise and our experiences together to create the best programs for our students.
For this week’s staff spotlight, we’d like to introduce you to Oliver Gebhardt, one of our post-production team members!
SAV: Hi Oliver! Thank you for taking the time to chat. What about this position at Such A Voice stood out to you when you were applying for it?
Gebhardt: In 2009, I moved from Phoenix, Arizona (where I was working at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences) to Burlington, Vermont. I was looking for another job in the audio industry. I found Such A Voice and it was a perfect fit. I’m happy to be here because I get to work with a team of positive professionals everyday, and I get to do what I love; audio engineering.
SAV: Walk us through your work day. What do you do for Such A Voice?
Gebhardt: My day can consist of any of the following: recording voice-overs at the studio alongside one of our wonderful producers, doing the Mastering and final editing of VO’s, creating demos from scratch, or helping our clients with any demo questions after their demo has been produced and shipped to them.
SAV: If you could have the voice of any professional voice-over artist, who would it be and why?
Gebhardt: I’ve never thought about having anyone else’s voice since I believe there is something unique and special about each and everyone’s vocal characteristics, but since you asked…James Earl Jones. I mean, why not?
SAV: Do you have a favorite niche within the voice-over industry?
Gebhardt: I love producing the Animation demos and Commercial demos. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy all the work I do, but there is a chance to be extra creative in that process.
SAV: What do you like the most about living in Vermont?
Gebhardt: I love the natural beauty, the people, and the conscious atmosphere.
SAV: If you could travel anywhere outside of the U.S, where would you go?
Gebhardt: I’ve always wanted to go to Tibet.
SAV: What television shows are you watching at the moment? Any recommendations?
Gebhardt: I watched the Netflix original series, “The Ozarks,” recently and really liked it.
SAV: Tis the season for both the NBA and NFL. Which do you prefer watching– football or basketball? If neither, what’s your favorite sport to watch?
Gebhardt: I prefer soccer, but I haven’t had much time to follow any of my favorite teams.
SAV: Have any big plans for 2018?
Gebhardt: Do it better than 2017!
